Psychoanalysts
I was able to get access into the offices of about twenty psychoanalysts practicing in New York City (one was in Westchester). The stereotyped image of the psychoanalyst as a rather authoritarian figure has been replaced by a number of presentations of self. This coincides with an increased diversity of ways of working. These images show how Freud’s notion of a “blank screen” is a myth.
The photographs shown are a selection of images drawn from the larger series.
